Energy inspection is a systematic process aimed at energy saving, which applies to both the building sector and industry and concerns all energy technologies. The term energy inspection defines the process of estimating the actual energy consumption in an energy system, the factors that affect them as well as the potential for energy savings.
The energy inspection answers the following four questions:
- How much energy of each available species is used and how much does it cost?
- What is the purpose of this action?
- What options are there (and how much do they cost) to reduce energy use?
- What are the most cost effective energy saving measures?
By conducting an energy inspection, we form a clear picture about the condition of the building from an energy point of view and we prospose specific measures, the implementation of which will result in significant energy savings and a corresponding economic benefit.
The manner in which the Energy Inspections must be carried out is determined by Decision D6 / Β / οικ. 11038, Government Gazette 1526 / Β / 27.07.1999 “Procedures, requirements and directions for conducting energy inspections”.
More specifically, an energy inspection includes the following:
- recording of energy consumption and their characteristics
- execution of an appropriate program of measurements of significant energy and other quantities
- processing of measurement results
- identification of specific energy saving measures, based on the above energy analysis
