Sail Ionian is a friendly, family owned yacht charter company, run personally by the current owners for the last 15 years. We are based in Vliho Bay on the Greek island of Lefkada. Sail Ionian has been built up on a foundation of dedicated service and a passion for the sailing lifestyle and the ever popular holiday destination of the Ionian.
Charter your own luxury yacht for 7, 10, or 14 nights! With Sail Ionian the boat you book is owned, chartered and personally cared by for us – we are no yacht agents! We offer exceptionally high standards of maintenance and cleanliness of all of our yachts and provide a fast and comprehensive support service whilst you are in the Ionian on holiday if required. Our Sunday & Monday mooring assistance is unique to Sail Ionian and provides our guests with initial support to refresh their skills. For anyone needing formal training, our RYA Sea School provides tuition to all abilities.
Our history
Sail Ionian is owned and run by the Bingham family since 2003. Originally started with 5 small boats and two newly bought Bavaria 38’s, the company now has 40 new yachts varying in size from 32 feet to 57 feet. The company is built on a foundation of dedicated service and a passion for the sailing lifestyle. The result has been a growing and successfully expanding enterprise ever since!

Our charter yachts
You can choose from our wide ranging charter fleet – a monohull sailing yacht or catamaran from 32 feet to 57 feet, with most under five years old.

With 15 years of experience, we have managed to perfect the sailing holiday options that we offer at Sail Ionian. RYA Sailing Courses are world renowned as having the highest standards of professional training within the yachting industry.
In Greece, as in many other countries, you legally need an official sailing certificate in order to charter a yacht. View our accepted qualifications page for more on this.
Yacht Ownership
Whether you are looking to buy a brand new shiny yacht, a pre-loved second hand yacht or you already have a boat that you need someone to look after, Sail Ionian has something to offer you.
With our Yacht Partnership Scheme, you can invest in a NEW yacht that Sail Ionian will use in their charter fleet and earn an income while using the yacht for a number of weeks each season.

Who is it for?
Yacht charter is for everyone to relish, that’s why at Sail Ionian we offer a number of different holidays to suit everybody. Whether you have never set foot on a boat before and looking to get your sea legs or you’ve sailed since a child and have many a nautical mile in your logbook, we have something for you.
What holiday is for me?
If you are already qualified then a Bareboat Charter is perfect for you, and our option of Assisted Sailing is great for those who hold a certificate but need to refresh your skills with a skipper for a day or two.
If you are sailing with us in high season, consider joining our sociable Informal Flotilla for daily mooring assistance.
For those new to sailing indulge in a truly relaxing Skippered Charter or perhaps RYA Training if you or your family are looking for a hands-on holiday to gain a sailing qualification.

Who is RYA?
The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is the national body for all forms of boating under power or sail. Including dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sports boats, powerboat racing, windsurfing, inland cruising and narrowboats, and personal watercraft.
There are two options with the RYA Training Courses. Firstly, a private course (you hire your own yacht and have your own dedicated instructor). Or the more usual and traditional course structure of mixed individuals course.

As the longest established RYA Sea School in the Ionian, we have a great reputation and a team of highly qualified and experienced instructors.
We offer a full range of RYA Training Courses, using selected yachts, specially coded for RYA training.
Tailored courses meet the specific needs of the trainees whether this is your first time on a yacht or an already experienced sailor.
Sail Ionian only takes a maximum of 4 trainees on board on our group courses. The RYA regulations allow for up to 5 pupils per course. However, we feel a smaller group size gives us more time for individual attention and tuition. Thereby, offering the best learning experience and ability to be able to practice and demonstrate skills.
We are located in an perfect area for both sailing and power handling and aim to provide a unique, valuable and fun learning experience!
We are more than happy to teach different courses on the same yacht if you have crew of mixed experience.
